This woman is not for sale but a young girl like her age was sold to Taiwan as a bride, treated like a commodity.
Ma Thi Mai*, from HCMC, was introduced by friends of family to a Taiwanese man. For three years, she was forced to work as a slave for the man’s family and was beaten every day. She was also forced to have sex with her husband’s 70-year old father. Eventually, she became mentally unstable so her husband sent her back to HCMC. When she arrived at the airport, she took a taxi but she couldn’t speak. The driver took her to an anti-trafficking NGO that helped her to find her family and put her to therapy and rehab.
She is just one of thousands of young Vietnamese women who need our help.
The Bride for Sale project aims to bring awareness to this big issue with hopes to give a better future to our women.
If you don’t donate now, she might be the next bride for sale.
